For more than two decades, FMC’s Annual Statesmanship Awards Dinner has recognized outstanding individuals and organizations who exemplify courage, commitment, passion for furthering democracy, and who have demonstrated a life-long dedication to service. The Statesmanship Awards are bipartisan and given to Democratic and Republican Members of Congress to recognize their distinguished Congressional service and commitment to improving the lives of others. The 2022 Statesmanship Awards Celebration was held on June 8th, 2022 at Capitol View at 400 (444 North Capitol St NW, Washington, DC 20001).

The 2022 Statesmanship Award Honorees

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) has served in the senate since 2015. prior to her senate tenure, she served Seven terms in the house of representatives, representing west virginia’s 2nd congressional district from 2001 to 2015. as an appropriator and pragmatist, she routinely works across the aisle to advocate for west virginia. one of the best and most recent examples of her bipartisanship is her significant contributions to president biden’s infrastructure investment and jobs act in 2021, through her position as ranking member of the senate environment and public works committee.

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) has served in the senate since 2013. prior to his Senate tenure, he served as governor of virginia from 2006 to 2010, lieutenant governor from 2002 to 2006, and mayor of richmond, virginia from 1998 to 2001. He also served as democratic national committee chair from 2009 to 2011. kaine is known for his work to improve education and strengthen workforce training programs through his position on the senate health, education, labor and Pensions Committee, as well as his bipartisan approach to lawmaking.

Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) has represented connecticut’s 3rd congressional district since 1991. As Chairwoman of the house appropriations committee, she constantly works across the aisle with her republican counterpart kay granger to fund the government and ensure government agencies have the resources they need to be successful.

Representative Kay Granger (R-TX) has represented texas’ 12th congressional district since 1997. Prior to that, she served a term as mayor of forth worth, texas, which she has continued to represent part of in congress. As ranking member of the house appropriations committee, she has a long track record of working effectively with her current counterpart rosa delauro, as well as, her predecessor nita lowey.
