FMC CEO PENS LETTER SHOWING SUPPORT FOR AMERICA’S ELECTION INTEGRITY
Washington, DC – FMC (the Former Members of Congress Association) CEO Pete Weichlein released the following statement expressing support for our nation’s election system and congratulating our election officials on executing a safe and secure election. The 2024 Election was highly anticipated, and many feared the possibility of election-day violence and threats erupting across America. Thankfully, the efforts of many volunteers resulted in an election day that saw swift and concise results.
“Last night, America conducted another safe, secure, and swift election of our next Congress and President. FMC thanks the thousands of election officials and volunteers across our great nation for ensuring that our 2024 election ran smoothly and produced accurate and timely results. Under often trying circumstances, including dozens of false-alarm bomb threats that appear to have originated in Russia, these public servants and volunteers worked tirelessly so that eligible American citizens could practice their most precious and fundamental right: the right to cast a vote.
“Of course, there were small challenges and shortcomings, which is inevitable in a process that involves millions upon millions of participants, but without a doubt our electoral system performed well, and the outcome can be trusted. As was the case with previous elections, the system and its implementers have performed under tremendous scrutiny, and through their actions have yet again reassured the voting public that our elections are free, fair and safe, the foundation of our representative democracy. Building upon that foundation, it is now important for the losing side to accept the results, commit to a peaceful transfer of power, and move forward with governing on behalf of this nation’s great people.
“We once again applaud all the brave election officials and volunteers who helped uphold one of the cornerstones of America’s democratic republic and look forward to welcoming the 119th Congress and the new administration in January.”
