FMC Statement on Bipartisan Congressional Budget Agreement

“America cannot be run three weeks at a time,” say bipartisan leadership of former Members association

(Washington, D.C.) – The bipartisan leadership of FMC (The Association of Former Members of Congress) released a statement today, following the passage of a two-year budget deal that was reached between Republican and Democratic Congressional leadership.

“America cannot be run three weeks at a time,” said FMC President Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) and FMC Vice President Martin Frost (D-Tex.). “By negotiating this bipartisan compromise, Congress has given citizens and businesses alike a stronger sense of certainty. This is particularly true for our armed forces. Along with our members, we applaud our former colleagues for doing what is right for this nation: allowing differences in opinion to be a guide toward agreement, rather than a wall that destroys progress.”
