Democracy Building and Legislative Strengthening
Former legislators possess a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of representative government. They often have regional legislative expertise, have served at the local, state and federal levels of government, and have experience in all branches of government. In addition, once a Member leaves office, they often return to the private sector or go on to teach, work in an NGO, or do other meaningful work. This additional expertise after having served in office proves valuable in post-election and democracy building work, possessing the knowledge and experience to work on issues such as gender equality, voter and civic education, human rights, and strengthening the multiparty process.
