7/10 Symposium: The Future Job Market: How America Can Remain Competitive in a Global Economy
The Future Job Market: How America Can Remain Competitive in a Global Economy
Keynote speaker: Mr. Robert Hoffman, Information Technology Industry Council
The goal of this three-hour mini-conference is to educate participants on the status and direction of the economy, the job market, and unemployment. Additionally, it is an opportunity to engage in an informed, intergenerational dialogue on how Congressional policy can create jobs and position America to keep its competitive edge in an increasingly global economy.
The conference will convene with introductions and a short presentation with facts and statistics to jumpstart productive conversations. After initial remarks, the audience will split into small working groups consisting of former Members, students, and experts in a variety of fields (for example, education, manufacturing, globalization, immigration, green energy, etc.). The experts will then lead their working group through an interactive discussion on what the issues are and what policies can help shape a healthy economic future. The conference will conclude with short reports from each table on what they discussed and what solutions they propose.
