CSGJ: May 3, 2013 – Sr. Staff Luncheon: Featuring Professor Victor Cha, Georgetown University
The Congressional Study Group on Japan knows that rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula could have significant consequences for both the United States and Japan and that the bilateral relationship is an essential tool in navigating the situation. Professor Victor Cha joined The Study Group for a roundtable discussion on recent events in North Korea, including heightened anti-American rhetoric and missile testing.
Professor Cha posed two questions to frame the conversation:
- Why does North Korea provoke international condemnation by running missile tests?
- What is driving the heightened rhetoric?
