For the second straight year, The Congressional Study Group on Japan (CSGJ) was pleased to lead a Senior Congressional Staff Study Tour to Japan from May 22-30, 2015, thanks to generous funding provided by Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA (SPFUSA). The bipartisan, bicameral delegation met with lawmakers, academics, and business representatives in Hiroshima, Tokyo, and Fukushima.

Meetings and activities placed special focus on:

  • Security (Korean Peninsula, U.S. troop presence in Japan, ongoing territorial disputes, cyber)
  • Energy in a post-Fukushima world (LNG/fracking, the future of nuclear, alternatives)
  • Trade and the Economy (Abenomics, TPP, China, bilateral FDI)
  • Society and History (70 years post-WWII, womenomics, immigration)
