Mr. Shigeru Ishiba, Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party
Shigeru Ishiba is Secretary-General of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in the Japanese Diet, and has been as a member of the House of Representatives since 1986 representing Tottori Prefecture. Previously, he served as Japan’s Minister of Defense in 2007 in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda and later as Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in 2008 in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Taro Aso. The Congressional Study Group on Japan previously met with Ishiba during its February 2014 Member Delegation to Japan.
