CSGJ: 2/18-25 – 4th Annual Congressional Member Study Tour to Japan (Tokyo and Nagoya)

For the past three years, The Congressional Study Group on Japan (CSGJ) has taken almost 20 Members of Congress to Japan for a week-long study tour program, supported by Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA. This program has provided a unique opportunity for American lawmakers, Japanese legislators, and other distinguished guests to discuss the bilateral issues as well as the role of their countries in solving global challenges in a frank and candid forum. Meeting partners traditionally include Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, several cabinet ministers, provincial leaders, and captains of industry and academia.

Following the United States’ intense political campaign, the 2017 Study Tour will present a critical opportunity for American legislators and Japanese meeting partners to discuss consequences both U.S. domestic policy as well as the Japan-U.S. alliance in the coming years. The 2017 bipartisan delegation, led by CSGJ Co-Chairs, Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Rep. Billy Long (R-MO), will visit Tokyo and Nagoya.
