The 20th Annual Statesmanship Awards Dinner was held on March 29th at the Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. The theme for this year’s dinner was “STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math): Empowering Tomorrow’s Technology Leaders.” Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and FMC President Cliff Stearns, presented the Statesmanship Award to Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA), Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) and Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) in recognition of their outstanding work in the STEM and computer science field. Dinner Chairman Martin Frost presented Microsoft with the Corporate Award and Code.org with the Civic Award for their commitment to STEM and computer science education. The evening featured a robust and interesting discussion, moderated by Emcee Major Garrett, CBS News Chief White House Correspondent, regarding the importance of promoting STEM education. The dinner was a great success and we look forward to seeing you next year.
